The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Displeasure Over Size Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Reaction
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
